FAFSA Support Services from KHEAA

Dear School Counselors,
As you look ahead to the 2026-2027 school year and think about how you plan to support students and families through the financial aid application process, KHEAA Outreach is here to partner with your school to expand access to financial aid information and FAFSA completion support. Through free services such as FAFSA completion workshops, one-on-one advising, classroom presentations, and parent nights, KHEAA outreach counselors work directly with schools to ensure students and families feel confident navigating the financial aid process and maximizing available resources.
Recent changes enacted during the 2026 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly emphasize the importance of this work. House Bill 257 (HB 257) updates Kentucky’s school report card to include FAFSA completion rates at schools with 12th grade students. This signals a clear statewide focus on ensuring more students successfully complete the FAFSA and access postsecondary opportunities.
KHEAA Outreach is well-positioned to help schools meet this new expectation. Our team can collaborate with school counselors to plan and deliver student and parent presentations; provide FAFSA completion workshops during the school day, evenings, or at special events; provide up-to-date training and resources for school staff; and assist with student tracking and follow-up strategies using our FAFSA Completion Initiative reports. By partnering with KHEAA, schools can increase FAFSA completion rates, reduce barriers for students, and directly address this new requirement under HB 257.
We would welcome the opportunity to work with you to develop a customized plan that fits your school’s needs and schedule. Please feel free to reach out to your regional KHEAA Outreach counselor to begin planning FAFSA support services for your students. Together, we can help ensure every student has access to the financial resources they need to pursue their postsecondary goals.
Sincerely,
Your Friends at KHEAA
